I figure Russian and Greek would be my first two non-latin character sets, so pointers for those will be most welcome.
HOW TO EXPRESS KOREAN CHARACTER IN TEXTEDIT APP HOW TO
Just how to enter the characters will be my next task. (I am hoping that the UTF8 character set will handle this just fine, and all my questions will simply be, just enter the right characters and it will all work). But I haven't really researched this any further than to assemble a list of the available fonts. I may release this as localizations for the app, or may release localized versions since an overhaul of how I manage the display may be required, especially for languages read right to left instead of left to right as English is read.Ĭan I do this with the any of the standard fonts in the iPhone? I don't really see any font families that have other alphabets in them. But I also want to store words written in these languages as text which I retrieve from a plist dictionary file. If it is simply a shift, option-shift, or some other simple keyboard trick, that's fine. Which of these alphabets are available for the iPhone/iPod-Touch and how to I access them. However if I wish to switch to Russian, I would want to use the Cyrillic alphabet. So, for example, I want to switch from English to French or Spanish, most of the alphabet matches English, with the addition of various diacritical marks. I will be skipping the asia-pacific languages which use pictographs for the moment, because i don't have enough understanding of how they might work in this application.

This will involve changing the keycaps on my buttons for languages that do not user the normal latin alphabet letters. I have an application that, given approval to proceed, I plan to release in languages other than English.
